Heading home from the hospital with your new baby can be tiresome and everyone might think you want to stay up late and show that beautiful child off to your family and friends.  Think again!   I myself was tired!!!  Yes, between the nurses checking on me because of the Cesearan I had or bringing my daughter in to be fed, I couldn’t get any sleep in the hospital.

When putting your child to sleep please observe the ABCs of safe sleep.   What are they?  Alone, on their Back, and in a Crib!

Another way of securing your baby’s safety is to have this in the same room as you are but, in different sleeping quarters like their own crib or bassinet.  This is very important because co-sleeping and bed-sharing is not advised although normal in some cultures.  The  American Academy of Pediatrics

has strict guidelines on letting your child sleep with you because of the risk of suffocation, sudden infant syndrome, and other sleep-related deaths.   Why co-sleep in the first place?  Well, when I did it some years ago it was out of not having a crib with my first daughter and convenience with my second child.   I just didn’t feel like getting out of bed to walk over to her crib because it took me months to regain my strength and energy.

Either way, I’m grateful nothing happened and now I know better after having friends who lost children to SIDS.

Be careful ladies, I know you might be still tired but think about your baby.

SLEEP TIGHT!
