Our Story
Founded in 2015, our diaper bank was created to ensure that no family has to choose between basic hygiene and other essential needs. What began as a small community response to diaper need has grown into a trusted resource for families across Essex County. Every diaper we distribute represents dignity, health, and our long-standing commitment to supporting parents and children when they need it most.
The Need
Diaper need is a quiet crisis affecting families across the United States. Today, 1 in 2 families with young children struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their babies clean, dry, and healthy. Diapers are not covered by SNAP or WIC, leaving parents to make impossible choices between rent, food, utilities, and basic hygiene for their children.
When families don’t have enough diapers, infants and toddlers face higher risks of diaper rash, infections, and discomfort. Parents experience stress, shame, and anxiety — often skipping work or childcare because many providers require a daily supply of diapers.
Here in Essex County, the need is especially urgent. Many families live paycheck to paycheck, and rising housing costs, limited transportation, and food insecurity make diaper access even harder. Parents want to provide the best for their children, but too many are forced to stretch diapers longer than recommended or rely on unsafe alternatives.
Our diaper bank exists to meet this essential need with dignity and compassion. By providing free diapers and hygiene supplies, we support healthy children, strengthen families, and help parents focus on what matters most — caring for their children and building a stable future.
Our Mission
We provide families living below the poverty level and at low income with an adequate supply of diapers and other basic necessities for their infants, and toddlers so that the caregivers can participate in life without financial hardship while keeping the loved ones clean, healthy and dry.
Vision
Our vision is to become locally known as a collaborative partner for diaper need and advocate for the wellbeing of women, babies and seniors while supporting families and organizations with basic needs that “NO BABY WET BEHIND” in Essex County.
